Escalante Utah camping is a great way to get a real feel for life in the wild!
There are many visitors who choose to “rough it” in one of the very scenic, clean and safe campgrounds that surround the communities. In summer months, when temperatures rise, you can camp near crystal clear lakes, bubbling streams and the Quaking Aspen of Posey Lake or Barker Lakes. Or there are beautiful sites in the stunningly beautiful red canyon walls of Deer Creek and Calf Creek campgrounds.
The area also offers endless backcountry camping opportunities. A free overnight permit is required and can be obtained at the Escalante BLM/NFS Interagency Offices. Primitive campers are asked to stay in designated areas and follow all rules regarding fires, group size and waste disposal.
Supplies for your outdoor adventure can be found in several of the stores catering to camper's specific needs. And the grocery store will fill those empty cupboards, fridge and ice chests to keep you well fed up while exploring and experiencing the “great outdoors.”
